Safer Stations for RTBU

Rail Bus and Train Union Victoria (RTBU)

RTBU campaign to have train stations re-manned.
The brief was to produce images to show the isolation of stations, and how the lack of staffing impacts on patrons and their safety.

Behind The Scenes with nicole marie

Hi, Nicole here. This is a little behind the scenes info on this project, to provide some context for you to enjoy the imagery more closely.

This project was created for the Rail, Train and Bus Union for their Safer Stations campaign. The brief was fairly open to interpretation, so I chose to represent the stories of women using public transport. Along with most women, I’ve had many vulnerable moments using public transport in Australia; lewd behaviour, being followed from stations, the list goes on and on.

Particularly unmanned stations, the sense of risk and isolation is heightened. These are the feelings I aimed to embed in the imagery.

Thanks for taking the time to listen in today, if you’d like to chat about your upcoming projects with me, please call me or e-mail me through my contact page. Love to hear from you.
